Music in Video Games: Call of Duty WWII

The first confirmed speaker is Brandon Young, Sr. Director Music Affairs at Activision, currently the leading video game publisher in the world with franchises spanning its vast portfolio such as Skylanders, James Bond, Prototype, Cabela’s various hunting titles, Spiderman, World of Warcraft, and Call of Duty, which broke entertainment industry records for the third consecutive time with its release of Modern Warfare 3. Activision was also responsible for the hit music franchises Guitar Hero and DJ Hero, which revolutionised the interaction between music and gaming.

Young has been an integral part of each brand’s music direction and integration for nearly 10 years, and has spent a great deal of time managing relationships with top industry artists ranging from Aerosmith, Van Halen, and Metallica, to pop-country superstar Taylor Swift, to Jay-Z and Eminem, to name just a few. In addition, Young and his team have been responsible for licensing over 3,000 songs for more than 130 titles during his tenure with the company. Together with composer Wilbert Roget he will focus on the craft of composing for video games at BMiM. The duo worked together on the best selling game of 2017 Call of Duty WWII, and Roget is also well known for his scores on Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris and Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire.
